Two more friendlies ahead of EURO 2020: 27 March against England and 4 June against the Czech Republic
The Azzurri will face England at Wembley, the stadium set to host the semi-finals and final of EURO 2020. The venue for the game against the Czech Republic still to be confirmedMonday, December 9, 2019
Roberto Mancini’s National Team have had two more friendlies confirmed in the build-up to their European adventure. Four days before the friendly against Germany, scheduled for 31 March in Nuremberg, the Azzurri will fly to London in England for the game at 21:00 CET on 27 March. The ‘Three Lions’ secured qualification for the European Championship finals after beating the Czech Republic to top spot in Group A. The Czech national team will be Italy’s final opponent before EURO 2020 kicks off, the friendly set for 4 June at 20:45 CET (venue TBC).
The game against England will be played at Wembley, the same stadium that will host the semi-finals and final of EURO 2020 in July, and also the venue for the last encounter between the two teams back on 27 March 2018. That game ended 1-1 after goals from Jamie Vardy and Lorenzo Insigne. The record between the two nations falls in the Azzurri’s favour, with the Italians having won ten, drawn nine and lost eight in their last 27.
Italy have only played the Czech Republic six times in the past, with the results perfectly symmetrical on two draws and two wins for either side. The last encounter came on 10 September 2013 in World Cup qualification, the game at the Juventus Stadium ending 2-1 to Italy.
