Italy record second 8 Nations Tournament win away to the Czech Republic
In their second match of the tournament, Franceschini’s side got the better of their opponents thanks to goals from Gaetano and Olivieri. Next match on 10 October against England in ParmaMonday, September 9, 2019
The Under-20 National Team coached by Daniele Franceschini recorded their second successive win in the 8 Nations Tournament today in Prestice. After their 2-0 win against Poland last week in Caldiero Terme, the Azzurrini today emerged victorious by the same scoreline against hosts Czech Republic after a difficult and very physical game.
After a goalless first half, the Azzurrini began the second period in a more aggressive and determined manner and went on to take the lead in the 76th minute, when Napoli striker Gianluca Gaetano scored a perfectly executed free kick just outside the opposition’s penalty box. The second goal came with 85 minutes on the clock: Juventus forward Marco Olivieri coolly finished past the goalkeeper following Vignato’s assist.
“I’m very happy with another excellent showing, especially because this second win in the tournament will help the lads gain morale. We had to dig in and it was a real battle in midfield, especially in the first half. After half-time, we were able to impose our game and create more. We scored the two goals thanks to the team’s character and the fact they were able to stay in the game until the very end.”
Italy’s next match in the 8 Nations Tournament will be against England at 14:00 CEST on 10 October at the Stadio Ennio Tardini in Parma.
