Italy are back in Sardinia for the first time in 15 years after beating Russia thereWednesday, December 18, 2019
Italy now have another warm-up fixture confirmed ahead of the EURO 2020 finals. Following the friendlies against England and Germany on 27 March in London and 31 March in Nuremberg and the Czech Republic match on 4 June at a venue to be confirmed, Roberto Mancini’s side will face San Marino at the Sardegna Arena in Cagliari at 20:45 CEST on 29 May.
There have been two previous meetings with Italy winning 4-0 on 19 February 1992 in a friendly in Cesena and the scoreline was the same in Bologna on 31 May 2013. In May 2017, an experimental Italy side led by Gian Piero Ventura won 8-0 against San Marino.
Italy have played five times in Cagliari (two wins, two draws and one defeat) and it will be the Azzurri’s first match there in 15 years since beating Russia 2-0 on 9 February 2005.
