8 Nations Tournament, Italy come back to draw against England

Italy were gritty and determined from the off. The Under-20 National Team kicked off and did what the Coach Daniele Franceschini asked of them as they showed fight to come back and draw 2-2 against England. England were on top in the first half with the visitors taking the lead with two goals in the 22nd and 23rd minute from Manchester United’s Angel Gomes, one of which was a penalty. In the second half, the hosts came back out with an aggressive style of play.
The Azzurrini scored two almost identical goals. The first in the 39th minute came from Juventus defender Gianluca Frabotta who found the net with a volley from 20 metres after a Colpani free kick hit the post. In the 39th minute, Juventus’ Manolo Portanova scored on the volley after an Oliveri effort hit the woodwork.
The match today at the Stadio Ennio Tardini in Parma was the third match for Italy at the 8 Nations Tournament after wins over Poland and the Czech Republic. Italy will be back on Tuesday 15th October against Portugal in Guardia at 16:30 CEST.
