La partita più bella Italia - Germania 4-3

1970

10 June. The Estadio Azteca. Mexico City. 105,000 people were there to see what went down in football history as the Game of the Century. Italy and West Germany faced off for a place in the World Cup final.

After eight minutes, the Azzurri took the lead through Boninsegna. The Germans responded and applied pressure until the 90th minute the full-back Schellinger beat Albertosi. That sent the game to extra-time where it all went crazy. Muller put Germany ahead, Burgnich equalised. Riva then fired Italy ahead before Muller made it 3-3. Just a minute later, Rivera scored the goal that turned out to be the winner with a right-foot effort beyond Maier.
