Ceferin compliments organisation of U-21 EURO. Gravna: “Now we’ll aim for Euro 2028”
The FIGC President: “The pre-requisites are there for an Italian bid, we need to speed up in two or three strategic areas for the development of Italian football”Tuesday, July 9, 2019
“UEFA President Alexander Ceferin congratulated us for the organisation of the Under-21 European Championship which was described as the best of the last five editions. With over 250,000 tickets sold, it set the record for attendance. He also spoke about the perfect condition of the stadium and we’re clearly showing improvement in terms of infrastructure.’ These were the comments off FIGC President Gabriele Gravina at the presentation of the ReportCalcio this morning.
It was an excellent preview with a possible bid from Italy to host the 2028 European Championship. “The pre-requisites are there, we need to understand if there is the time for it to be an objective for our country because I heard there is resistance in some government circles. We know that the tournament host will be named in 2022, you need to arrive prepared and we have to do more over the next two years with ideas and projects that give the impression of a dynamic country with then modernisation of structures. We need people to participate and get involved. I thank the secretary Giorgetti, for months we’ve been in contact on a series of ideas that we agree on. Now, we need to speed up in two or three areas that are strategic for the development of Italian football.”
